Eric Trump is being ridiculed for his clueless claim about jail terms for his opponents

Eric Trump, son of Donald Trump, is facing blatant fact-checking on social media over a claim he made during an interview with Fox News Wednesday night.
“It’s sad. We’re no better than some of these third world countries around the world,” he said. “We’re literally trying to lock up political opponents. We’re better than that.”
But Eric Trump’s critics quickly focused on something else: Threatening political opponents with jail was a central theme in his father’s campaign since he entered politics in 2015.
At Trump’s campaign rallies in 2016, crowds routinely chanted “lock her up” in reference to then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. During a 2016 debate, Trump told her, “You would go to jail” if he won the election.
