Erik ten Hag is one of the frontrunners to become the next Manchester United manager and reports of his openness have included the suggestion that he is taking English classes

The Red Devils are still looking for a long-term successor to the interim leadership position Ralf Rangnick, persons expressed his admiration for the work that Erik ten Hag did at Ajax since 2017. The Dutch player is one of the two brightest candidates for the Old Trafford hot seat next to the stars below the base. Paris Saint-Germain gaffer Mauricio Pochettino and is even available to answer the club’s SOS call.
Mauricio Pochettino is still a favorite for United work, like revealed last month, with the Old Trafford team confident of landing their man. That revelation was later supplemented by Mirror Football reported that the Argentinian was the preferred candidate among the players in the United dressing room.
However, the situation is still quite stable and Ten Hag is still a good candidate for the role due to the work he has undertaken at Ajax. Ten Hag seems very willing to land a spot at Old Trafford, achievable if the club commits to him and requires a high level of English.
That last aspect is the subject of reported earlier this month claiming that the Ajax boss is taking extra English classes to improve his use of the language. This was placed for Ten Hag before his faction Champions League clash with Benfica on Tuesday night.
When asked by BT Sport about BT Sport’s report, the Dutchman replied somewhat emphatically: “No, that (report) is not true! We (have) spoken English at the club because there are a lot of foreign players are in the Netherlands and they were educated in English so (that makes sense).”
The 52-year-old was then asked about his possible future after this season amid speculation he could move in from Ajax. “I don’t think that’s the problem today, tonight is all about our game,” he replied. “I’m focusing on that and I’m not paying attention to other subjects. My only focus is on Ajax vs Benfica.”
Ten Hag, enjoy another sensational domestic season in Amsterdam and compete in Champions League, had long been touted for an opportunity with the elite and directly responded to links with the Reds earlier this month. “For now, I’m just working with Ajax and have no further thoughts on the future,” said the Ajax manager, quoted by Trouble.
Ten Hag previously managed Dutch clubs Go Ahead Eagles and FC Utrecht – while he also had a spell at Bayern Munich’s second division team – and was appointed Ajax manager in December 2017. He has won two Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups, while he memorably led the club to the semi-finals of the 2019 Champions League.
