Erling Haaland has reportedly spent over £500,000 on farewell gifts for his Borussia Dortmund team-mates ahead of his summer move to Man City.
The Norwegian sensation is headed for the Etihad Stadium in the upcoming window after the current Premier League leaders activated the release clause included in his contract. His move to England marks the end of a hugely successful spell as Dortmund have represented the German side since joining from Red Bull Salzburg two and a half years ago.
Since then, the 21-year-old has scored an incredible 86 goals in 89 appearances in all competitions and also won the DFB Cup during his time at Signal Iduna Park. As a farewell, he is said to have given his former teammates some expensive gifts.
According to German outlet Bild, the striker has given each of his team-mates an engraved Rolex watch, while he has also given each member of the club’s coaching staff an OMEGA watch. Haaland’s generosity is thought to have cost him around £500,000.
While that seems like a huge amount, it seems his Man City contract is making this seem like small change. Haaland will reportedly pocket around £375,000 a week after joining the Etihad – a huge increase from the £130 a week he currently earns at Dortmund.
His future boss Pep Guardiola has already expressed his excitement at having Haaland available next season. Shortly after City’s deal was announced, the Spaniard said: “It’s a decision for the club, the club make a good signing for the future and (he) will hopefully come for many, many years and I’m pretty sure that he will adapt perfectly to our team, but it will be next season.

“I’m looking forward to my job and of course I like working with good players because the players make you a good manager. Of course he’s an incredible young talent at a perfect age and I’m pretty sure we’ll help him. ” as much as possible.”
While Haaland will be working under a new coach with his move to Manchester next season, his former Dortmund team-mates are also said to have a different man at the helm.
Marco Rose has parted ways with Dortmund after just one season as coach, despite guiding the Black and Yellows to second place in the Bundesliga this season. Dortmund reportedly held an “intense” meeting to review their performance throughout the season and it was decided the best course of action was to part ways.
His replacement is reportedly to be Edin Terzic, who will take up a second spell as caretaker after Lucien Favre’s departure in December 2020. Meanwhile, the German giants may already have found a replacement for next season with the takeover of Haaland Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.
The former rounded off his time at Dortmund with a goal in the 2-1 win over Hertha BSC on the final day.
