EU ‘shocked and appalled’ by Russian attacks on Kyiv during UN chief’s visit – POLITICO

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell condemned the Russian air strikes on Kyiv during the visit of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday.

“Shocked and appalled by the Russian rocket attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities,” Borrell said tweeted Late Thursday, he added that the Kremlin, both as Guterres and as Bulgaria’s prime minister, was once again demonstrating a “blatant disregard” for international law Kiril Petkov was in Ukraine at the time.

Guterres’ team was “shocked” by the proximity of the Russian attacks, but all are safe, a UN spokesman told AFP.

Ukraine has criticized his decision to travel to Russia, noting that the visit was used for Kremlin propaganda.
