Audiences watching The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on Saturday night were amazed at a familiar face.
Singer Mika, whose real name is Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, took on the job of hosting the annual live competition in Turin, Italy – before performing an ensemble of his hits at the end. .
Mika was joined by the co-hosts for the evening, Italian TV presenter Alessandro Cattelan and Italian singer Laura Pausini.
When Grace Kelly and Happy Ending singer Mika hosted the show live, some viewers watching from their homes had to double down.
Many people didn’t believe that the singer was hosting the show, and they didn’t realize he was participating even though it was announced before the live finale.

As some questioned the decision, others were delighted to see Mika back and excited to know what he would bring to the competition.

Taking to Twitter, fans even joked that they wanted Mika to win the entire show, even though he was the host, not the contestant.

Mika is well known in Italy, with his songs becoming a huge hit in the country – while he was also a judge on The X Factor Italy in 2013.
The singer has actually also lived in the country for many years and he recently talked about his Eurovision hosting gig.
Speaking on The One Show, Mika said: “I learned to speak Italian just because I had this opportunity to go and do The X Factor in Italy.
“I learned in a few months luckily my Italian is better now, the irony about the whole thing is that I’m going to do Eurovision, the biggest TV show Italy has ever had to put on , and the whole thing is English.”
