Award-winning director John Carney praised Eve Hewson’s acting talent and said it was clear she was going to be a star in her own right.

“There is a lot of scope in her performance. She doesn’t just sit in the acting chair for an hour and a half.”
To be nominated for an Oscar means that everyone in America is like, ‘Okay, what do you want to do next and let’s talk’. It’s the holy grail of filmmaking.
Carney said Hewson “didn’t care much about the deals” and he said she just wanted to act.
“Her parents could be doctors or street sweepers or whatever. She has the DNA of creativity and a desire to get into the character, act, and excel in the art form she has chosen,” he said.
“Hopefully people will start looking at her career and say, ‘That conversation’s over now.'”
