Everton vs Chelsea Prediction: How will the Premier League game go tonight?

blank

Frank Lampard meets his former side in the Premier League season opener tonight when Everton play Chelsea at Goodison Park.

Lampard was appointed Everton boss last season, his first job since being sacked by Chelsea last year, and the club narrowly avoided relegation.

Everton are expected to face a similar struggle this season after losing Richarlison, while Chelsea’s place in the top four seems threatened after Arsenal and Manchester United strengthened over the summer.

Thomas Tuchel has brought Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella to his side after a busy summer of transfer business under new owners.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When do Everton play Chelsea?

The game starts at 17:30 on Saturday 6 August at Goodison Park, Liverpool.

How can I view it?

Team News

Everton have been rocked by the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be out for around “six weeks” with a knee injury sustained in training. With Solomon Rondon also out due to a suspension from last season, it means Dele Alli could lead the line. Yerry Mina is available after overcoming a punch but the match should come too early for Allan and Seamus Coleman while Tom Davies, Andre Gomes and Andros Townsend are all sidelined.

Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly were set to make their debuts but although Marc Cucurella was signed in time to be included in Chelsea’s squad, the left-back is unlikely to feature. Timo Werner is doubtful with a hamstring injury but the striker has also been the subject of speculation about his future and may not have played anyway. Ben Chilwell might not be fully fit but with Marcos Alonso close to joining Barcelona, Emerson Palmieri could start instead.

Expected Lineups

Everton: Pickford; Godfrey, Keane, Tarkowski; Patterson, Doucoure, Iwobi, Mykolenko; Gordon, Alli, McNeil

Chelsea: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Kante, Kovacic, Emerson; Mount, Havertz, Sterling

opportunities

Everton: 5/1

Draw: 16.5

Chelsea: 4/6

forecast

Everton will work hard but appear to be a very limited team who aren’t ready for the new season. Chelsea haven’t had the best preparation either, but their defense is usually dependable and Everton shouldn’t pose too many problems without a striker. Raheem Sterling could earn the win in a narrow opening win for the Blues. Everton 0-1 Chelsea
