We are currently using iOS 16.0.2 – a newer version of iOS 16 – which was released last month.

It included a lot of bug fixes to help you enjoy your iPhone better.

Now tech blog MacRumors has revealed details of a software update for iOS 16.0.3 in its own website analysis – tracking visitors to the site.

This may mean that the new update is being tested internally at Apple HQ.

Unfortunately, the exact details of what’s included in iOS 16.0.3 remain a mystery.

iPhone owners have been reporting some strange bugs over the past few weeks – including text crashing the Mail app.

It is possible that this will be fixed in the new update.

In any case, it is extremely important to regularly update your iPhone with the latest iOS.

Many iPhone updates contain new features or tricks.

But more importantly, they often fix annoying bugs that you’ve had to deal with.

And even more useful are the security fixes that often come with iOS updates.

iOS 16.0.3 release date – when will it be available?

Unfortunately, it’s not exactly clear when iOS 16.0.3 will be rolling out to the general public.

Since these are bug fixes, we expect it to drop very soon.

The original report notes that we could see it either this week or next.

So keep checking your iPhone for the new update.

And consider turning on Automatic Updates for iOS by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Not all iPhones are the same

Apple can’t support all iPhones forever – so very old iPhone models often lose access to updates.

Sometimes these old iPhones aren’t capable of supporting new features, or not enough people are using them to justify deploying an update.

Now the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and 1st generation iPhone SE are being cut off by Apple.

These handsets were compatible with 15.6.1 but will not receive iOS 16.

If you’re using older iPhones, you’re already cut off, so consider upgrading to a newer model right away.

Here is the full list of devices supported by iOS 16:

  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14Plus
  • iPhone 14 pro
  • iPhone 14 pro max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro max
  • iphone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 pro
  • iPhone 12 pro max
  • iphone 11
  • iPhone 11 pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8plus
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or newer)

If you can’t get the latest iOS, you’ll lose access to the latest security fixes.

These are critical patches that close vulnerabilities used by hackers to gain access to your systems.

If you can’t update to iOS 16, you’d better update your iPhone sooner rather than later.
