Ex-Big Brother contestant Orlaith McAllister: ‘The sound show is back gives me goosebumps…it’s gonna smash Love Island’

Beauty queen Orlaith McAllister has predicted the newly announced Big Brother series will eclipse Love Island in the reality TV ratings war.

The former Big Brother star (43) also said she got goosebumps when she learned the show would be revived for next year.

ITV announced the return of the hit show, which went awry five years ago, during the finale of summer TV show Love Island last Monday.

Belfast model Orlaith heard the news while flying in the Med with her fiancé, lawyer Neil Logan, and two children, with other passengers preventing her from chatting about her days at BB’s.

“I’m glad to see it back on TV screens,” she said. It will bring back a lot of memories and I will definitely watch it.

“I had the idea that it might make a comeback because it was such a good TV in its day. It really gives me goosebumps.

“I saw online that former housemates Kate Lawler and Anthony Hutton did an interview on This Morning about it, and I saw a few things on Instagram.

“It is lovely. It’s a really great return to the show. I had a time that I absolutely loved, with the contestants and my stuff.

“Those who go through next year are very lucky and I think it will surpass Love Island. Love Island is needed, but Big Brother was the first reality TV show and a great show.

“I think it’s a great idea. If I were young again, I would definitely apply. I had a great experience at the age of 25 and it was a great life experience that I feel very fortunate to be a part of.

“It brings back a lot of memories for me and it’s nice to see all the former contestants being so positive about it. We’re all really one big family and we’re the only ones who know exactly what it’s like. We had to live it 24/7, but it was amazing.”

Orlaith, who starred in the sixth series of Big Brother in 2005, felt that the producers should cast ordinary people as contestants rather than wanting celebrities or social media influencers. festival.

“I think they should bring in ordinary people because that is what we did,” she explained.

“I think if you do that, you’ll get reality TV, the same way it was originally.

“The show started with just ordinary people, no social media at the time.

“If you throw a bunch of influencers at it, it’s not going to be fun, it’s not going to be real and it’s going to be like Love Island.”

A former model, beauty queen and TV star, Orlaith recently qualified as a real estate agent and is working for CPS Property in south Belfast.

She added: “I’m just living a quiet, normal life. Now I am working as a real estate agent so I am getting into the real estate market.

“I work for a lovely company on Lisburn Road. It’s really good and I absolutely love it. Humans are great.

“Life for me is wonderful and normal, that is what I have wanted for a long time. It’s my normal, and I love it.”
