Ex-Brighton husband Adam El-Abd retires

But he said losing time on his playing days was a difficult decision.

He told worthyfc.com: “I didn’t take this decision lightly because I love the game so much.

“In hindsight I should have retired maybe three years ago when I left Stevenage because the body wasn’t the same and I wasn’t able to do the things I used to be able to do.

“I love the game so I didn’t want to give up but my priorities have to change now and switch to my little boy.

“He watched the first game of the season there and I was sitting on the bench four weeks before my 38th birthday and I was like, ‘I should really dedicate some time to him now’. I think that’s sort of clear.

“I’ve had a good career. I’m lucky that I’ve been playing football since I was 16.”

Worthing has lost fellow ex-Albion player Jake Robinson to a knee injury for most of the season.
