EastEnders: Danniella Westbrook to appear as Sam Mitchell in 2016

Danniella Westbrook has revealed she wants to return to the country – but not in EastEnders.

Instead, former actress Sam Mitchell has admitted she’d love to play one of ITV’s rivals – Coronation Street or Emmerdale.

The 48-year-old, who has been very open about her battle with drug addiction, says she understands why people might think she doesn’t deserve another chance.

But all Danniella can do is take it day by day.

She said in candid conversation with GB News’ Mark Dolan: “I’m looking to the future. The Eastenders are amazing, I grew up before the nation. But that’s the past. I’m RIP Sam Mitchell. !

“I’d love to play Emmerdale or Corrie. I’d love to return to the acting scene where it all started for me. I’ll be 50 next year and I want to play Momma in Chicago one day. .”

Danniella also talked about her battle with addiction, explaining what she believes is the reason behind it all.

The actress said she suffered from drug abuse as a child, but she got bored talking about the scandalous photo of her nose with a completely disintegrating septum.

Speaking more on Mark Dolan Tonight, she said: “My drug abuse started well before I was famous. I was sexually abused as a child but I managed to move on with my life very much. a lot. And I don’t blame my addiction on that.

“That’s where I got used to drugs but that’s not the cause. Because I’m an addict, I’ll have problems with a lot of things whether it’s coffee or something else. I can’t order his problem down to being abused or being famous.

“I’m sick of talking about that photo. I’ve been talking about it for 20 years. Now I only really talk about it in therapy meetings.”

She added: “I’m happy today because I’m fine. I live for the present, I live for today. If I don’t put my recovery first then I don’t have a life and my children don’t. have a mother, and my parents don’t have a child.

“I would never take my condition for granted. I had a 14-year clean then relapsed so I would always say, every day, that I was recovering. Sometimes I look back and say ‘ why would I throw that away?’ I beat myself up about that a lot, but in other ways it was a reminder.

“If I was sitting at home I would think why do I keep hearing about this girl, she has so many opportunities, why doesn’t she just disappear. I feel the same way. Now if I can’t fathom my crap with someone who needs to vibrate well for me. So now I just do today, today, today.”
