Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) said that Casey DeSantis’ showing up on the campaign trail on behalf of her husband, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, could actually backfire.
“To many, she’s the lighter side of the angry Florida governor. For others, she’s become America’s Karen,” Jolly said on MSNBC Sunday.
He called her a “more effective messenger” than her husband, who is running for the Republican Party presidential nomination.
The problem is the message itself.
“If all she’s doing is reinforcing the wrong message, she’s really showing Ron DeSantis’ weaknesses,” he said, citing DeSantis’ attempts “to scare voters with his culture war rhetoric.” “.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s presented in heels or boots, the DeSantis doctrine is a failure,” he said. “We’ll find that out the more Casey DeSantis is out there.”
