Former Love Island contestant Bethany Rogers described the hell of drug addiction and relationship abuse she endured after appearing on the show.

The 27-year-old appeared on ITV’s first hit dating series in 2015 where she was described as an ‘aggressive monster’ almost from the start – after an initial conflict with a fellow female candidates.

The mother-of-one confirmed that the producer directed the contestants into certain situations to ‘fry the pot’ and manipulate them to ‘fit their story’.

Bethany, who was dropped from the show after ten days, was stunned to discover hundreds of malicious and abusive social media messages from trolls when she exited. In the end, it led to her ‘losing everything’.

“There were so many trolls and malicious comments, even death threats. I was really shocked when I watched the show and saw how I was portrayed. They made me go crazy. “, she said to Sun.

She added that those days there was no aftercare and she had to fend for herself mentally afterward.

“Even old friends I haven’t talked to in years, or people I don’t even know, are writing unfavorable things about me that are affecting my mental health,” continued Bethany.

“I know I have a big heart. I’m not evil. I’m not evil. I have a lot of love to give. I’m not the monster they made me. I’m certainly not. was a bully. I just felt betrayed by the whole script. I’m still just a teenager.”

After losing her self-worth due to torment, Bethany turned to drugs, especially ketamine, and found herself in a violent relationship as she struggled to cope.

She was later charged – but later acquitted – of money laundering in a four-year case, which ended only recently.

Bethany was also released from the hospital on one remaining charge of possession of 134mg of ketamine, which her attorney said should have been handled with caution years ago.

Before entering Casa Amor, she worked as a dancer, a performer and fueled the fire in and around Leeds before being contacted on Facebook about appearing on a ‘new show’.

Seven years on from that appearance, Bethany has now decided to speak up about her ordeal, revealing that because of her late arrival on the show, the producers asked her to ‘stir up trouble’.

She said that she arrived on set late at night when all the first contestants were getting drunk. Describing the chaos throughout the mansion, Bethany said one contestant was bouncing all over her body, while another approached her and ‘hands’ her, which left her ‘on the defensive’.

What didn’t work in Bethany’s favor, however, was the fact that after leaving on good terms and generally being nice to everyone, all the footage the producers had aired about her was ‘negative. and aggressive’.

Feeling low, Bethany began a relationship with Laurence Edwards, who she said ‘has been beating me regularly for over a year and abusing me to the point where I felt like I had to run away with my life’ .

At this point, along with Edwards, she was accused of buying an Audi A3 with criminal money, which eventually led to the money laundering case.

As her problem escalated, despite evidence of unlucky beatings by Edwards, Bethany chose not to press charges against him out of fear for her own safety. However, she managed to get out of this relationship soon after.

As her court date approached and she felt isolated, she then turned to ketamine as a coping mechanism.

But after becoming pregnant some time later and giving birth to a baby girl, she sought help to overcome her addiction. She then entered rehab for nine months later forcing her to leave her child behind, which she described as ‘mental torture’.

Things were finally starting to improve for the former Miss Leeds in 2020 when the charges against her were dropped.

Edwards soon changed his plea to the charges of perverting the course of justice and taking or using criminal property, but has yet to be convicted.

Bethany, meanwhile, is currently studying psychology at university and aims to help others who have gone through similar trauma.
