Collin Reeves filmed the confrontation with the neighbor in the park row

Footage of a park row that would end with an ex-soldier killing his neighbors was shown in court.

Afghanistan veteran Collin Reeves is on trial for allegedly murdering couple Jennifer and Stephen Chapple in front of the television.

The 34-year-old was filmed outside her home in May last year confronting Jennifer, 33, just months before she was stabbed.

Former Commando Reeves can be heard telling her, “You can’t park there,” before she replies, “You don’t own the street” in footage captured by the Chapples’ door camera.

The seemingly harmless incident sparked a long-running dispute that ended in November 2021 when Reeves killed the couple with a ceremonial dagger he received upon leaving the army, the jury found.

Reeves had previously admitted manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, but this was denied by the Crown.

The footage has been released by Avon and Somerset Police after being shown to the jury during the ongoing trial at Bristol Crown Court.

Reeves fatally injured the couple while their two children were sleeping at a property in Dragon Rise, Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset on November 21 last year.

The Chapples’ two children, just five and six years old, were asleep at the time of the incident.

Kayleigh Reeves told the jury Thursday that Reeves had suffered from mental health problems since returning home from a tour against the Taliban.

She had proposed a trial separation shortly before the incident.

In surveillance video shown to the court, he was seen climbing over the fence and sneaking into the Chapples’ home.

Cameras then picked up the sounds of the attack with Ms Chapple screaming loudly while Reeves was heard screaming “Die you f***er, die” before closing the door behind him and climbing back over the fence.

Kayleigh said: “I was upstairs and then I heard some screams. I went downstairs and I couldn’t see Collin in the living room.”

She added that she could see that his army dagger had been stolen.

She then called her mother-in-law and told her Collin “did something stupid” and thought he “went next door and stabbed her.”

Some neighbors had heard screams and a group went to the victims’ home to see if they were okay.

The process goes on.
