Ex-Trump lawyer expects charges to be filed soon on January 6th

Ty Cobb, a former White House attorney under Donald Trump, predicted on Tuesday that indictment was imminent as part of the federal investigation into the Jan. 6 riot and the former president’s role in it.
“I think it’s going to happen soon,” Cobb told CNN’s Erin Burnett.
“I think the so-called January 6th case, which basically encompasses all attempts to stay in power and prevent the peaceful change of government, was, in my opinion, a very important matter for the special prosecutor (Jack Smith),” continued Cobb “I think he approached it very deliberately, I think they moved heaven and earth to do it in time.”

“I think they’re ready to go,” he added. “I don’t think there are many Iss or Ts left to cross, but I do think there are some tough choices.”
Cobb hinted that Trump could end up being a defendant, an unnamed co-conspirator, or could be barred from the indictment altogether pending further investigation.
“You really don’t know,” he admitted.
However, Cobb suggested that the case will now “move rapidly” as investigations into Trump’s efforts to reverse his 2020 election defeat in Georgia have developed and a grand jury met on Tuesday.
Trump, the front-runner in the GOP’s 2024 presidential campaign, is also on trial in 2024 over the Stormy Daniel hush money case and was indicted last month over his alleged misuse of confidential documents.
