Russian forces will run out of ammunition by the end of the year, Ukraine’s intelligence chief has warned.

Kyrylo Budanov believes that Russia has only enough fuel, ammunition and military equipment to sustain another seven months of full efforts.

Although Russian forces have recently captured most of the town of Lyman in northern Donetsk Oblast, pictures on social media show old T-62 tanks on trains heading to the front lines in Ukraine.

The tanks are believed to be around 60 years old and have been pulled from storage.

Some say this is a great indicator of Moscow’s fighting stock as its arsenal has been depleted.

Budanov predicts that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces will be exhausted by the New Year.

He said Sky News : “The breaking point will be in the second half of August.

“Most active combat operations will be completed by the end of this year. As a result, we will restore Ukrainian power in all our lost territories, including Donbass and Crimea.”

The UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) intelligence assessment says Russia’s Southern Grouping of Forces will receive the T-62 tanks and their presence “highlights Russia’s lack of modern combat-ready equipment.”

Ukrainian forces will likely wipe out the tanks with simple rocket-propelled grenades, and they don’t need to use their sophisticated weaponry to wipe out the decrepit vehicles.

Unconfirmed Ukrainian claims put Russia’s losses after three months of war at 1,300 tanks, over 3,000 armored vehicles, 600 pieces of artillery and almost 30,000 soldiers.

Despite Bundanov’s predictions that Putin’s troops will be gone by the end of the year, Kremlin Senator Andrei Turchak said: “I wanted to say again that Russia is here forever. There should be no doubt about that. There will be no going back to the past.”

But another sign of weakness and an indicator of a high Russian mortality rate is the abolition of the maximum age for conscription.

The Russian Duma has voted to remove the upper age limit for conscription, allowing any man over 18 to serve. Previously, anyone over 40 was not allowed.

The Defense Ministry said that in the first three months of the war, Russia likely “suffered a similar death toll as the Soviet Union suffered during its nine-year war in Afghanistan.”

It said a combination of “bad, low-level tactics, limited air cover, a lack of flexibility, and a command approach that is willing to amplify mistakes and repeat mistakes” led to this high casualty rate.

The T-62 tanks, which first saw service in 1962, were spotted being transported by train to the town of Melitopol in southern Ukraine.

A post by the Ukrainian Army on Facebook wrote that due to casualties during the hostilities, the Russian enemy “was forced to withdraw” T-62 tanks from storage “in order to recruit reserve battalion tactical groups being formed to go into the to be sent to Ukraine”.

In just one week, 70 Russian tanks were destroyed by Ukrainian artillery trying to cross a river.

Ukraine claims more than 1300 were destroyed, with open-source intelligence confirming 700.
