The US Department of Veterans Affairs, the agency behind the study, published its findings in British Medical Journal . It found that people who tested positive for Covid were 60 percent more likely to receive a diagnosis related to their mental health.

Data were collected from 153,848 people who had been infected with the virus, whose experiences were compared with those of people who had not been infected with the virus.

The study also collected data from a control group of people from before the pandemic, with each group being followed for 12 months.
