Liverpool midfielder Fabinho wants to paint Wembley red – and give The Kop the celebration they were robbed of in 2020.

Jurgen Klopp’s men can land the first part of historic quarter-final as they face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final.

Fabinho was a key member of the team that raised Liverpool First title of 30 years before two seasons – only for Covid restrictions aimed at ruining their chance to get a proper knee-jerk.

The Brazilian wants to make up for that.

Fabinho said: “When we won Premier LeagueIt was a time of Covid so we couldn’t celebrate in the right way with the fans.

“So having the fans in the stadium is going to be very special. I think it will be 50-50 among supporters – and hopefully the red part will be really nice.

“We know our fans will be behind us. Yeah, that would make this final really special.”

Liverpool are now at a remarkable distance from the leaders City of Manchester top of the Premier League.

A 2-0 victory over AC Milan gave them a great chance to progress to the quarterfinals of the Champions League Champions League. And on Wednesday, they host Norwich in the fifth round of FA Cup.

But Chelsea proved to be a nasty opponent: both Premier League matches between the two sides ended in draws.

And Fabinho believes the final could be decided by the outcome of the midfield battle at Wembley.

He added: “I remember our last game against Chelsea, the midfield was really important.

“I remember (Mateo) Kovacic scoring a very nice goal and he and (N’Golo) Kante played a good game.

“We also did well. We have to keep pressing them and they keep the ball well and move from side to side, so we have to work very hard.

“I think on Sunday it will be similar. We have to work hard, try to press them and recover the ball, with the ball to create space and create chances.”
