Liverpool midfielder Fabinho appears to be in a race to be fit for the Champions League final against Real Madrid at the end of the month.
The 28-year-old had to leave the field with a torn muscle in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win against Aston Villa.
Brazil subsequently included him in their squad for next month’s games against South Korea, Japan and Argentina, with fitness coach Fabio Mahseredjian providing an update on Fabinho’s forecast.
“Fabinho felt a muscle and we are in contact with Liverpool,” he told a press conference on Wednesday.
“He’s going to have some trials today but we hope he’s ready (for the) Champions League final.”
Fabinho is likely to miss Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea, as well as Liverpool’s remaining Premier League games against Southampton and Wolves.
Captain Jordan Henderson, who has played a more advanced role for most of the season, is likely to fall back to cover in Fabinho’s defensive midfield position.
