This means the message lands in your chat without any notification appearing on the recipient’s phone or PC.

It’s one of a handful of texting tools that you can activate with new keyboard shortcuts delivery boy users worldwide.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, announced the new “command system” in a blog entry on Tuesday.

The company described the tool as a way to “increase your messaging efficiency.”

“Whether you’re chatting to let everyone know about an important announcement, or paying a friend back for lunch… Messenger’s new shortcuts get you there in the shortest number of keystrokes.”

Messenger shortcuts are key combinations that provide quick access to a specific function.

For example, you probably know you can type that @ followed by a person’s name to tag them in a chat.

New shortcuts expand those available in Messenger to three, allowing you to tag anyone in a chat or send silent replies.

When you start a message with @everyoneall participants in the chat will be notified.

According to Meta, the prompt is “perfect for group reminders, impromptu get-togethers, or when you…need to crowdsource an answer to a time-sensitive question.”

It ensures your message gets maximum attention and nobody misses out.

Next are silent replies, which you enable with the shortcut /Quietly.

Meta said: “Sending a message with /silent eliminates the fear of interrupting someone with a non-urgent pop-up notification or disturbing them outside of business hours.

“Now you can share those late-night revelations in the moment without disturbing the peace, and your friends can read your message in peace.”

All Notify and Silent Replies are now available for iOS and Android.

Meta said it’s working on other shortcuts coming to Messenger “soon”.

A, /Pay, allows you to quickly send or request money from your friends. It will initially only be available in the US.

Another, exclusive to iOS, lets you quickly send a GIF reaction. The abbreviation is /gif.
