Facebook teases controversial update for BILLIONS of profiles after changes on Instagram

MARK Zuckerberg is preparing to bring the NFT craze to Facebook.

The tech billionaire launched the controversial feature on Instagram earlier this week, but now wants it in all of its apps.

NFTs – non-fungible tokens – are all the rage right now, giving people the opportunity to own a unique digitized object such as art, music and even trading cards.

And for some, it’s proven lucrative — but also risky.

An Instagram model recently revealed how she made over £4million in 10 days by selling pictures of herself as NFTs.

However, their value can drop significantly, as one buyer little noticed after snagging an NFT for the very first tweet.

Zuckerberg, 38, hinted that Facebook will soon follow Instagram with NFTs.

“We’re starting to build for NFTs, not just in our Metaverse and Reality Labs work, but across our entire family of apps,” he said.

“We’re starting to test digital collectibles on Instagram so creators and collectors can show off their NFTs.”

As we saw in the Instagram test, we see a “digital collectibles” badge next to images that people have created or purchased in feeds.

Instagram boss Adam Mosseri said it will initially only be available to “a handful of US creators and collectors.”

“There are no fees for posting or sharing a digital collectible on IG,” he said.

He also suggested that developers could potentially make money selling NFTs through the platform.

Meta’s apps have been integrating similar features for quite some time. So when NFTs land on Facebook, we can assume they will look and behave the same as they do on Instagram.
