Families living in fear of “disordered” women trying to take their children off the streets

Concerned parents in the Stoke area claim a “mentally disturbed woman” tried to touch and snatch her children while police stepped in to reassure communities they were safe

Concerned parents claim a “mentally disturbed” woman is trying to get her children off the streets while police monitor the situation.
Videos were shared on social media showing a woman touching and kissing schoolgirls and following other children closely.
Other disturbing incidents include reports of the woman breaking into strangers’ homes and approaching strangers to ask them to buy her items, such as sneakers and clothes.
The stories have been shared over several weeks, and frustrated parents have vowed to arrest a citizen if they caught her in the act. Stoke on Trent Live reports.
Some residents say the incidents are “grossly exaggerated” or just “hearsay,” while others claim to have been victims.
On some occasions she is alone, on others with a man or a group.
A concerned grandmother said: “She followed me and my granddaughter and kept touching her.
“I was actually quite worried about her and it takes a lot to scare me.
“The police have to do something because there will be vigilante groups who will take matters into their own hands.
“I think she’s mentally disturbed.”
A Berdmore Street mother told StokeonTrentLive: “Is there any evidence she touched a child?
“Don’t get me wrong, we’re scared – we’re worried, but we’re just going by what social media says.
“She looked at my son as we walked past, but she made no attempt. And then we obviously hear that she is said to have kissed a child.
“But if that’s the case, why didn’t the parents call the police? We don’t know what’s going on, but we need to know. I have two children and they now panic when they go outside.
“We don’t know what’s true. We don’t know if she was only attacked because she is a foreigner.”
Staffordshire Police acknowledged the woman’s behavior is “concerning” and have sought to reassure local residents.
A spokesman said: “At 7.25pm on Tuesday evening officers attended a report of a woman approaching a child in Baker Street, Fenton.
“Officials conducted an investigation. However, no one could account for what had happened.
“We are also aware of posts on social media regarding similar incidents, but these have not been reported to the police.
“The woman has been identified and while we understand this behavior is worrying, we want to reassure the community that proper safeguards are in place.”
