IF there’s ever been a winner in defeat – on and off the field – it’s the faceless, fearless, unforgettable Chaker Alhadur.
Playing in goal with the Comoros missing all three goalkeepers, the converted left-back won hearts on social media as the TEN-MAN lads terrified Cameroon against Afcon.
The emergency saver was hailed as ‘more proactive than De Gea’ and ‘funny but amazing’ after making ‘four outstanding saves’.
He won more fans when pictures were posted of him forgetting he was a goalkeeper and putting his hands behind his back when expecting a shot.
Cameroon eventually advanced to the quarter-finals 2-1, Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar excelling at the consolation of a sublime free-kick from Youssouf M’Changama.
Before 3 goals conceded, Comoros midfielder Nadjim Abdou had to receive an early red card that made many people predict a landslide match.
Instead, Alhadur recalled the greatest night of his career – in the most unexpected way.
The 30-year-old widow plays at a good standard club for second-place Ligue 2 side Ajaccio.
But switching between bats, he elicited four quality stops for league debutant players, notably amazing dual block.
First, the former Nantes player hit the ball away in an unorthodox fashion when diving all the way, then he suggested a reaction from the start.

Comoros was forced to put Alhadur in his unusual position because Salim Ben Boina was injured and Ali Ahamada and Moyadh Ousseini tested positive for Covid.
The country ranked 132 in the world had hoped Ahamada would be able to play when the test results were negative in the morning.
But the heads of the Confederation of African Football still follow their strict protocols.
In the end, however, it left viewers sitting on armchairs to greet a new hero.
One said of Alhadur: “Can’t blame him. He made four excellent saves!”.
Another fan replied: “No one blamed him, good performance so far. Lots of respect.”
And this post said it all: “it’s funny but he did a great job. Great performance.”
But how about this for a tribute to be emitted: “Honestly this man has won my heart. I supported him from the start of the game. Very well respected.”
