Noura Aly Essam, 23, of Egypt, was beaten and dragged from her home and locked in a room by her father after hearing that she was to inherit a third of her grandfather’s estate
A father kidnapped his own daughter after she inherited a fortune in her grandfather’s will.
Terrified Noura Aly Essam, 23, was kidnapped by her father after being given a third of her grandfather’s estate so she could continue as a student.
Her father, who was not named, kidnapped her at her home after hearing about the legacy on Saturday June 4.
Noura, who is half Egyptian and half Korean, lived with her grandparents for years, police said.
She was beaten and dragged from her apartment back to her father’s house, where she was locked in a bedroom, according to police.
Prosecutors say that according to her grandfather’s will, a disagreement arose between the father and his daughter.
They claim he “took his daughter and attacked her out of hatred for her”.
The father is said to have confiscated her mobile phone and injured her eye when he “stepped” on her.
Noura was only saved when police spotted a viral call on social media for her to be found.
The campaign went viral on June 12 and two days later, Egyptian prosecutors issued a statement saying that she had been safely returned to her family and her father had been arrested.
Egyptian prosecutors called the victim “Nora” in a statement released on Tuesday.
