A DAD who splashed more than €400 into a sex shop while failing to pay his son’s maintenance is fighting a court order requiring his payments to be increased.
A new maintenance debt summons has been issued against the father asking him to pay a new amount of €487.
The man’s lawyer Colum Doherty told Judge Mary Larkin at the Family Law District Court her order that his client made an increase in maintenance payments of €80 per week is now being appealed to Circuit Court.
Earlier, in court, Judge Larkin criticized the father after a bank statement was provided detailing more than 400 euros that he had spent in four separate payments between March and July 2021 for Love Honey online sex shop.
The man testified in court that he was delayed in paying maintenance because he was “struggling” with a weekly social welfare payment of €203.
But Judge Larkin replied: “Obviously he can buy ‘diddlydodas’ or whatever you want to call those whenever he wants without regard for cost, that’s not a business. of a man earning €203 a week.”
