Fears of iPhone 14 delay as Apple insiders warn lockdowns in China could ruin release date

AN UPCOMING iPhone model could be delayed by weeks after launch.

The release of one of the four iPhone 14 models expected later this year is reportedly at risk.

Apple unleashes a lot of new things iPhone models every September.

And this year is no different: we’re expecting the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple is expected to announce them all in early September, followed by a release about 10 days later.

But a new report from Nike Asia warns that “at least one” of these models is behind schedule.

The delay is linked to disruptions due to Covid lockdowns in China, according to industry insiders.

And that could mean waiting longer for a new iPhone than you’d like.

“It’s a challenge to make up for lost time,” one supplier told Nikkei.

“Apple and its suppliers are working around the clock to accelerate development.”

But they added that the reopening is “pretty slow”.

Apple itself has warned that the lockdown in China is disrupting production.

And the models of the last few years have been delayed at launch: the iPhone 12 Pro Max shipped three weeks after the iPhone 12 Pro.

It’s still not clear which specific iPhone model could be delayed.

And it’s possible that Apple’s suppliers can catch up.

In any case, it seems certain that all models will appear on time Christmas.

The big launch event always takes place in September and tends to fall early in the month – usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

For 2022 we expect the event to take place on Tuesday 13th September or Wednesday 14th September.

This will be followed by pre-orders for the iPhone 14 on Friday 16 September.

And we’re expecting an actual iPhone 14 release date of Friday 23 September.

Unfortunately, some models could be delivered later if rumors about the delay are true.

There are rumored four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

That’s a slight departure from previous years, when the old “Mini” model was scrapped in favor of a larger base “Max” model.

We expect a big increase in processing with a new A16 chip.

And the camera is likely to see some major upgrades too.

Apple is also just days away from unveiling its new one iOS 16 Update that will debut on iPhone 14 at launch.

Unfortunately, nothing is certain until Apple makes an official announcement.
