Some places are open on Sundays on Bank Holiday Monday while others remain closed.

Here’s a full breakdown of bank holiday opening times at Aldi, Lidl, Dunnes, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Supervalu Irish stores.

LIDL

Irish Lidl stores have normal working hours on bank holiday weekends. Most of them are open from 9am to 9pm.

However, every store works differently. You can check the closing times of your local stores in their store locator.

ALDI

Aldi opens and closes its doors at similar times to Lidl and does not close on bank holiday weekends.

On a bank holiday Monday, they usually operate on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. You can use the store locator to ensure your local store follows the same schedule.

DUNNES SHOPS

Dunnes Stores outlet hours vary across the country depending on the size and location of the store.

You can check the opening hours of your local Dunnes stores on the store locator.

TESCO

Tesco opening times vary from store to store across the country, but you should expect some changes to normal opening and closing times.

You can check the opening hours of your local Tesco store to make sure you aren’t faced with a closed door.

OVERVALUE

All Supervalu branches are self-managed and therefore have different opening times depending on the branch this weekend.

You can check your local Supervalu here.

FEBRUARY HOLIDAY

This new bank holiday was introduced to celebrate Imbolc and St Brigid’s Day which falls on the first Monday in February.

This is the case, except when St Brigid’s Day falls on a Friday, then Friday 1 February is recognized as a public holiday.

Leo Varadkar previously said: “This will be the first Irish public holiday to be named after a woman.

“It marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the equinox, the beginning of spring and the Celtic New Year.”

And after February there is a holiday every month until July if there is none.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday this year, so after the St. Brigid’s Day break, your next free holiday is Friday March 17th.
