FIFA 23 apologizes after TOTY player is missing from FUT packs

FIFA 23 fans are outraged that EA Sports failed to include a Team of the Year (TOTY) player in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs.

Added the regular base map instead of the boosted TOTY map, which has significant stat improvements.

Thibaut Courtois was voted FIFA 23 Goalkeeper of the Year by fans but he didn’t get the recognition he deserved.

His TOTY card should be released in FUT packs along with selected defenders Achraf Hakimi, Virgil Van Dijk, Éder Militão and Theo Hernández.

However, when players opened their FUT packs, they received Courtois’ 90 base card rather than his 96 TOTY variant.

The TOTY card not only plays better, but also sells at a much higher price in the in-game transfer market.

The Courtois base card currently sells for 57,000 FUT coins compared to the TOTY card which sells for 520,000.

However, FIFA 23 has acknowledged the mistake and tried to make things right with its players.

This comes after players contacted EA Sports angry that they received the wrong card after purchasing their FUT packs.

EA Sports tweeted: “The base version of the Courtois player item was incorrectly available in bundles instead of the Team of the Year version.

“This issue has been resolved and affected players will receive the corrected in-game player item in the coming days.”

There is no current timeline as to when the correct card will be available to those affected, other than “the coming days”.

The wording of the tweet also makes it unclear whether players will receive the TOTY card in addition to the base card.

Players may see their Courtois base card being replaced with the boosted version.

Launching more TOTY Courtois cards isn’t the solution EA Sports seems to think is possible.

Players who bought the expensive TOTY card will find that its value decreases as more cards are added.
