FIFA 23 has been correctly predicting world champions for over a decade

SINCE 2010, the FIFA series has used in-game simulations to correctly predict world champions, and this year it’s done it again.

The team started their winning streak by predicting victory for Spain in 2010, then Germany in 2014 and France in 2018.

After FIFA 23 ran 64 different simulation matches with its in-game teams, FIFA 23 correctly selected Argentina as the winner of the 2022 World Cup.

Not only did it set the winners straight, but it also predicted that Lionel Messi would dominate the tournament.

The game correctly predicted that Messi would win the Golden Ball. It also predicted he would win the Golden Boot for which he finished second behind Kylian Mbappé.

Mbappé only managed to snatch the golden boot from Messi in the World Cup final with a stunning hat-trick.

FIFA also correctly predicted that Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez would lift the Golden Glove.

Although not all predictions were correct, many came close. FIFA 23 predicted that runner-up France would finish third.

The biggest slip was the prediction that Brazil would finish second, but the five-time world champions only made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

FIFA 23 has scanned the likeness of numerous famous soccer players from all over the world to make accurate predictions.

Experts record and observe athletes’ movements to ensure their in-game models function like the players themselves.

This makes the matches in FIFA 23 the most realistic in the soccer game and helped the developers to correctly predict the winners.

The way the simulations work is that the team runs the matches in-game with the teams, knocking them out in the process, mirroring the real tournament.

It’s not a perfect prediction method, as you can see from the few errors in his guess, but it gives people a more reliable basis than mere guesses.

FIFA 23’s World Cup mode is available in-game until January 4th.
