FIFA 23 LEAKS a month early and reveals Ultimate Team stats

It’s not uncommon these days for games to be leaked early, but it’s rarely that embarrassing.

As many game developers have learned over the years, if you give your community an inch, some people in it will go a mile.

A lucky few accidentally got access to FIFA 23 a month before launch.

Preloads and previews often result in data miners diving into the game’s files, revealing tons of information about a game before the team behind it intended.

However, if you were lucky enough to be on your Xbox earlier today, you didn’t need computer skills to access FIFA 23 a month ahead of schedule.

The game is set to launch on September 27th, and this morning those who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition on Xbox had the chance to preload.

Preloads allow you to download the game early so you can start playing right away when the game releases, but this one went awry.

Today, rather than getting the game ready for launch day, this preload allowed players earlier access to the entire game before it was quickly banned again.

That meant those lucky enough briefly got an unobstructed view of the entire game, and plenty of people leaked the details on social media.

Twitch user Mexico07dan1 streamed the game live on Twitch and received thousands of views. Her account has since been suspended but the clips are still available on her channel.

Twitter user miszhu showed the entire soundtrack with tracks from Gorillaz, MIA and Bad Bunny.

Most excitingly, Ultimate Team was fully accessible and fans could see some of the players’ stats, which caused quite a stir in the community.

Ultimate Team stats are always hotly debated as no one seems to agree on which players are under-rated, high-rated, or just right.

The biggest argument from this leak concerned Christiano Ronaldo, whose pace stat – widely recognized as one of the most important – was downgraded from 87 to 81.

Also, his dribbling skill has dropped from 88 to 85. It’s his lowest ranking since FIFA 11 and fans aren’t happy.

Fans on the Reddit thread discussing this are already calling it “Discard Trash,” so it may not be a must-have for Ultimate Teams anymore.

This is a big problem for the game’s publisher, EA, as the revelations surrounding a FIFA game often involve collaborations with the real football clubs, and they won’t be happy about that.

For example, Liverpool’s new third kit has yet to be unveiled to the public, but as it’s included in FIFA 23, images of it are now available online.

However, this won’t have a huge impact on future games as EA has already announced that it will no longer make FIFA games.
