FIFA 23’s first update brings much-needed changes to computer opponents

EA SPORTS has released its first update for FIFA 23 aimed at improving the game without having to download a huge patch.

These changes are called live tuning and can be made by simply closing and restarting your game.

FIFA 23 is out now.

FIFA 23 is out now.

When the game restarts, you should see a notification that the update has taken place.

Players on Xbox Series consoles may miss this as Quick Resume doesn’t close the game even if the console shuts down.

Changes include an updated AI for referees that will ensure they make better decisions.

There are also improvements for players rated under 90, which most of them are.

Here are all the changes added to FIFA 23:

Penalties become progressively more difficult, ensuring that more skill is required to execute the shot.

Previously, even if a poorly timed shot was attempted, if the ring of rest was yellow or even red, there was still a good chance of scoring.

The accuracy of these shots has been reduced, so you’ll need to make sure the circle is green for your goals to land.

Previously, players with a rating below 90 in Career Mode or a rating below 90 in the Dribbling Stats in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) had poor speed when on the ball.

The new changes remove this threshold and allow players to use a dribbling speed that more closely matches their stats.

These players get increased speed overall, so an 89 dribbler will not be significantly worse than a 90 player.

The referees’ AI has been adjusted to make their decisions more fair to the players.

Previously, they were likely to call a foul even on simple arm kicks. The update will reduce the chance of this occurring in small collisions.

However, they are now more likely to award yellow cards when a player fouls with a hard slide tackle.

Players could previously abuse this to turn the game in their favor without incurring a harsh penalty.
