FIFA 23’s World Cup mode leaked to some players early – here’s what we know

The World Cup mode is being developed for FIFA 23 to be released in time with the real FIFA World Cup in Qatar starting in November.

However, some FIFA 23 players on PlayStation 5 have gotten a glimpse of the upcoming mode as it was accidentally leaked early.

Only a few screens were shown, but it gave us quite a bit of information on what to expect from the upcoming mode.

There are quite a few changes that players weren’t expecting that would add to the mode’s replay value.

Corresponding EurogamerScreenshots posted to Twitter have revealed more clubs than expected in the FIFA version of the World Cup.

While only 36 nations and thus teams take part in the real sporting event, 48 teams will take part in the upcoming mode.

It’s not yet known who those 12 additional teams will be, although they’re likely teams that were expected to qualify.

This includes many countries where football and FIFA are popular such as Italy, Hungary, Nigeria and Sweden.

From the screenshots, we could also see that there will be four different ways to play FIFA’s World Cup mode.

These four sub-modes are: FIFA World Cup Live, FIFA World Cup Kick Off, Online Tournament and FIFA World Cup 2022.

The last three modes were available when FIFA last added a World Cup mode, back in FIFA 18.

FIFA World Cup Live would be a brand new mode for FIFA 23.

Fans speculate that this will be a mode where players play with their favorite team in online matches.

Players’ scores then go to their team, which creates the game’s own World Cup rankings.

A similar mode has already been used in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT), so it wouldn’t be that unusual to see something similar added to the upcoming World Cup mode.

We’ll find out more when FIFA 23’s World Cup mode officially launches in time for the real-world event on November 20th.
