Filming for the third season of Grace begins in the village of Brighton

FILMING for a hit crime drama has returned to Brighton to bring author Peter James’ bestselling books to life.

Filming for the third season of ITV’s Grace started today in Rottingdean, with scenes being shot at St Margaret’s Church, Nevill Road and Beacon Hill.

Filming inside the church is expected to last until 11pm, with a crew of about 40 working to minimize disruption to local residents.

A location manager for the production said that local residents who live near filming locations “feel very welcome in the area.”

She said: “Our hope is to return to Rottingdean to film future episodes but of course we want to make sure we consider local residents and businesses first and foremost.”

The upcoming season of the drama is based on three books by the Brighton author; Dead Like You, Dead Man’s Grip and Not Yet Dead.

The Argus will continue to feature on the ITV show, as has been the case in previous seasons.

Grace was filmed at many places of interest in Brighton and Hove, with some scenes also taking place at locations in other parts of Sussex.

Guests arriving at The Grand Hotel earlier this year were in for an unexpected surprise when Peter James worked as a concierge while researching a character.

Peter, in full uniform, carried guests’ luggage and helped them through the famous revolving door.

He said: “I want a character that disappears and a concierge here says the guy has been here incognito for several months.

“So I wanted to know how much they would see – they don’t miss much

“I did all the chores: recommending places, lugging bags, parking cars — well, I opened the garage doors, I don’t think I have insurance to drive.”

Season 3 of Grace, starring Life on Mars actor John Simm in the title role of DSI Roy Grace, is slated to hit screens sometime next year. Filming for the third season of Grace begins in the village of Brighton
