April is coming fast and now we have details from Akihiko Matsui Final Fantasy XI‘s April update and events. The April update includes Part 2 of Chapter 7 of Voracious Resurgence, originally scheduled to release in March before it was postponed, monthly rotations, some changes and improvements, and preparations for the 20th anniversary.
The Voracious Resurgence update with new story-continuing quests is at the heart of this update, along with the monthly rotations such as the Records of Eminence and new objectives. Both April’s Ambuscades, Quadav and Beast Battles, are returning, so the monsters and rewards will look familiar if you’ve been playing regularly. However, each of them has received some adjustments.
For Quadav, this includes lowering the difficulty a bit by increasing the delay between certain abilities and making spawns less frequent. In the beast battles, the beasts start to sleep but they wake up at a set time, so you have to prepare your strategy. An additional challenge comes as living monsters absorb the powers of those you’ve killed, so killing them in order of appearance isn’t necessarily the right way to go.
They also plan to add new items and new supported items for the Porter Moogle.
There will be an overhaul of the AMAN Trove, with several changes. The highlight will be the addition of new equipment that will only be available in the AMAN Trove. This will be exclusive and their characteristics will be different from most items they have. Square Enix isn’t ready to reveal exactly what that is just yet, but Matsui says, “We’re sure you’ll have lots of fun figuring out how to best leverage their various niches.”
With May being the 20th of Vana’versary, there will also be a special edition of the We are Vana’Diel series in April ahead of the big anniversary plans.
