Final Fantasy XIV details the Empyreum Housing Lottery process and significant changes to the overall process

With the message that Final Fantasy XIV will open a brand new neighborhood, details are now available on the Empyrean Housing Lottery, which will go live when patch 6.1 arrives. There are also some new changes to the process in general.

Empyrean will have 48 available stations divided into 24 main and 24 sub-sections. A housing lottery will begin in this new area with the release of Patch 6.1. Because lots and apartments are so important in the game, there have been different rules for apartment lotteries and cells in the past, but this time it seems Square Enix is trying to make things clearer and more consistent. From this housing lottery onwards, all plots of land that are offered for sale will be subject to the lottery system.

Getting a lot used to be sometimes a matter of simple patience, first come first served, but when everything is subject to a lottery it becomes consistent and players don’t have to camp for their desired location either. Another change is that all lots will retain their initial value instead of depreciating over time like they used to. This also means relocation reimbursements are also changing for those who are able to secure a new property.

Participation in the housing lottery occurs on a 9-day cycle, with the first five days being the participation period and the last four days being the result and claim period. You can participate as a private buyer or as a representative of your free company. There are multiple qualifications for each type of shopper, but if you meet them you can enter the lottery and wait for the winners to be determined. If you win you can claim and complete the purchase.
