Final Fantasy XIV Holding maintenance for housing areas as work continues on housing lottery repairs

With efforts to recover the housing lottery data and fix the issues that have caused disruption and confusion for Final Fantasy XIV With the arrival of Update 6.1, Square Enix is ​​taking the residential areas offline for maintenance to begin fixing issues and extend the original end date for the lottery.

In the meantime, due to the bugs that affected the first new housing lottery for 6.1 and the rules that are supposed to change the housing lottery in the future, they have suspended new lotteries. However, they have extended the original end date beyond the original date of today, April 20, and this downtime will be emergency maintenance to ensure the extension lasts.

This won’t be something that will fix the issues or get all the data, so be prepared for the ongoing work on the condo lottery system until they have fixes. In the meantime, they have asked players who have the opportunity to complete their purchases to do so in order to facilitate the correct completion once they are able to recover the data. However, Square Enix insists that the lottery ended as intended so there is no need to rerun the lottery as the correct winners won, but the system was completely botched with glitches affecting player notifications. Sometimes this was done in confusing ways, and there were additional bugs like refunding gil to those who were actually chosen but received the wrong information.

The anticipation was high since Empyrean’s new housing area was such a big feature of 6.1. Additionally, the announcement that the housing lottery for servers located in the recently opened Oceania data center would be held for the first time was also something players showed up for.

Given the importance and impact of these bugs, it makes sense that they work quickly to not only fix the issues, but fix the system so that future lotteries can run smoothly rather than just happen.
