Fiona O’Carroll confirms Mrs Brown’s Boys will return next year with new mini-series

Fiona O’Carroll has confirmed that a brand new series of Mrs Brown’s Boys will air next year.

he loves the RTÉ and BBC sitcoms, created and starring Fiona’s father Brendan O’Carroll, which ran for three seasons from 2011 to 2013 but the franchise persists with tours live performances, holiday specials, a movie and a musical.

And for the first time in nearly a decade, the show will return as a mini-series next year while two new Christmas specials are also on the cards.

Fiona (41), who plays Maria Brown in Mrs Brown’s Boys, told RTÉ Guide: “In October we will be filming Mrs Brown: two Christmas specials and the first episode of a mini- The series consists of four episodes, three remaining at the beginning of the next year.

“We’re hosting a live show in November at the SSE Arena in Belfast and the 3Arena in Dublin. And we’re planning more theaters next year.”

The return of Mrs Brown’s Boys was originally supposed to take place this year, but production has been delayed due to Covid restrictions and scheduling issues.

Fiona previously talked about the difficulties the team faced when trying to get the ball rolling in the new series.

Speaking on Ireland AM earlier this year, she explained: “Well, you know what the industry is like. There’s a lot of talk and a lot of chatter and until it happens, you’ll be fine. never really know.Yes, there is talk.

“We were supposed to do a mini series this year but unfortunately, due to various reasons, that didn’t happen.

“So there are rumors that it will happen next year, a mini series could happen. It’s not just up to us, it depends on the set time, it’s up to the crew and it’s because of the cast.

“It’s not just up to us, it’s set time, it’s up to the crew and it’s down to the cast.

“With Covid, it’s been a time of chaos and huge backlog and all the artists and works are fighting for time and space.
