A FIRE broke out in a field this afternoon.
The fire was in a field in Laughton, east of Lewes, and started around 12.30pm.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two fire engines from Lewes and Uckfield.
An area of 50 by 30 meters was affected.
A fire department spokeswoman said: “We were called at 12.39 p.m. and sent two devices.
“Crews used hose reels and flails to put out the fire.
“They stay on site and make sure there are no more hotspots.”
Firefighters sprayed the charred ground and put out embers.
East Sussex Fire Brigade had to fight a major fire in an area of bush at Seaford Head Golf Course on Saturday.
