A downtown LGBTQ bar is undergoing dynamic change.
The R Bar, formerly known as Bar Revenge, in Marine Parade, Brighton, closed its doors for refurbishment earlier this year.
A first look at the bar’s new layout reveals a Miami nostalgia-inspired interior, borrowing from the city of Florida’s Ocean Drive in the 1980s and the warm and vibrant coastal sunsets to create a space that ” seamlessly transitions from daytime to neon “Happy Hour” colors.
The new look features disco balls, bright colors and geometric shapes.
The R-Bar acts as a pre-clubbing destination for its sister club, Club Revenge, just around the corner in Old Steine.
DesignLSM’s new look aims to “emphasize a compelling daytime experience to reflect the bar’s soon-to-be-launched food offering”.
The redesign is expected to be completed later this month.
Club Revenge, which first opened in 1991, was recently ranked as one of the top gay bars in the UK, scoring well with Instagram and the number of hashtags on the social media platform.
