First hardcover copy of Harry Potter sells for up to £150,000 at auction

An early hardcover copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is expected to cost upwards of £150,000 when it launches in November.

His book will be sold alongside franchise star Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Wand of Heroes’ from the 2001 film, estimated to cost up to £30,000.

Both items are part of an auction organized by film and television memorabilia company Propstore, which will include treasures from multiple blockbuster franchises.

More than 1500 lots will be sold in the auction from 3 to 6 November, with an estimated total value of more than £11 million.

Among the most prized items is the complete Superman costume by actor Christopher Reeve (from 1978-1987), estimated to be between £250,000 and £500,000.

Dave Prowse’s on-screen matching Darth Vader gloves from the 1977 sci-fi film Star Wars: A New Hope are estimated to be between £150,000 and £250,000.

The live auction will be held at Bafta 195 Piccadilly, in central London, as well as online or by phone for global bidding.

Props from the James Bond, Marvel, and DC franchises will also be available, as will items from other classic films including Shawshank Redemption and Gladiator.
