Five people were arrested this morning after a series of raids in the Clonmel area of Co Tipperary seizing suspected drugs, caravans and animals.
ardaí in Clonmel conducted the joint search operation with the support of the Garda Armed Support Unit, the Public Order Unit and the Garda Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit.
The Gardaí investigation was also supported by members of the Cork-based Irish Armed Forces, the Revenue Customs Service and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA).
“Three caravans suspected of being stolen were seized by Gardaí during the searches. Gardaí also seized a quantity of suspected controlled drugs with an estimated street value of €2,000,” said a Gardaí spokesman.
“Fifteen dogs and three horses were rescued by the ISPCA.”
Three men and two women were arrested in the course of the operation, and all five were held in Tipperary Division Garda stations.
A man and two women have since been released without charge and a Garda spokesman confirmed a file is being prepared for the chief prosecutor.
Two of the men are currently still in Garda custody and investigations are ongoing.
