There is NOT much that could encapsulate Wembley.
England, obviously. Ed Sheeran. Adele. No problem.
Now there’s one more thing to add to the list: the Nissan Qashqai.
The original family-friendly crossover has found 640,000 satisfied customers over the past 14 years, enough to fill Wembley SEVEN times.
Why are we telling you this? Because we fully believe that the brand new Qashqai will continue to attract many new fans for many years to come.
The old car is good. Do you know that. But this new one is next level. And still reasonably priced from just over £24k.
We love it so much we just crowned it Solar Car of the Year.
Here are five reasons why…
Posh but realistic. Great stance. Clean road. Speak softly.
Designer Matt Weaver compared the Qashqai to an iPhone, and we see his point. Good design simple but with all the content you need to embed in it.
Hybrid engine. Intelligent safety system. Good family space.
This leads us to the unique interior. More soft-touch materials, more space in all directions, and the rear doors open up to 85 degrees to easily push the kiddywinks out.
In addition, the boot deck is reversible, with carpet on one side and hard plastic for wet and wet dogs on the other. Small details count.
High technology. It has THREE screens. Gauges with 12.3-inch TFT display, 9-inch central touchscreen and 10.8-inch Head-up display.
That last thing projects speed and satnav onto the windshield in front of you so you’re always on the road.
You’ll also love the adaptive cruise control system that intelligently reads speed signs and automatically slows down the vehicle. That can save your license.
Plus, a top-down camera makes parking a breeze, and there’s wireless Apple CarPlay® and wi-fi for up to seven devices.
Luxurious. We’ve already covered soft-touch materials. The Qashqai also features massaging front seats and a heated steering wheel for the first time.
You work hard. You deserved it.
Plus, the huge panoramic glass roof lets in light.
Hybrid engine. You have two choices. The first is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol with a 12v mild-hybrid engine.
The second program, coming out this year, is called e-POWER and is really fun. It uses a gasoline engine to charge the electric motor and then drives the wheels.
The result: the instant torque and acceleration of an electric vehicle without worrying about range. And don’t worry about a plug.
This is the stepping stone to our electric future.
Lighter, stiffer body. A bit of a nerd but allow us to explain.
Nissan has worked hard in this area for a lighter, stiffer body that improves pretty much everything: safety, efficiency, ride and handling.
We all feel better after losing some wood, don’t we?
What’s interesting above all, of course, is that the Qashqai is designed, engineered and built in the UK, which makes it so personal to many people.
Visit your local Nissan dealer for a test drive. You won’t be disappointed.
