Five teenage girls rushed to hospital after a serious accident in Kilkenny

Five teenage girls were taken to hospital after a serious collision with a car on the main Kilkenny to Tullaroan road around 9.30pm on Thursday evening.

They were taken to St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny and University Hospital Waterford for treatment.

Their injuries range from non-life-threatening to serious.

The road was closed pending a forensic accident investigation.

A spokesman for An Garda Siochana said: “Gardai and emergency services are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision involving a single vehicle which occurred just before 9.30pm on the main Kilkenny to Tullaroan Road, Co. Kilkenny, on Thursday 11 August 2022 , occurred.”

“The vehicle’s five occupants, females in their late teens, were taken to St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny and University Hospital Waterford for treatment for injuries ranging from non-life threatening to serious.”

“The road is currently closed to forensic collision investigators.”

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
