Residents and businesses are invited to comment on the potential redevelopment of an important site.
Developer Shoreham Brighton Road Limited originally applied last August to convert the Frosts Cars site on Brighton Road, Shoreham, into a mix of 183 one- and two-bedroom apartments and commercial premises.
The plans have been amended with a new ground floor design and a 30 per cent affordable housing agreement and the Adur District Council is now keen to hear as many people as possible on the plan.
Given the public interest, it has spoken to the developers, who have agreed to extend the public consultation and increase the number of open houses, giving the community until September 12 to give their opinion.
Councilor Steve Neocleous, Senior Member for Regeneration, said: “I am pleased that the program now includes affordable housing and the developers are ready to work with the council to actively engage with local residents during this extended consultation period.
“There is a shortage of housing, but any new developments must be of a reasonable scale, and infrastructure must be upgraded to cope with the extra traffic and pressure on local services. Local residents have legitimate concerns about these proposed projects so we have been working with the developer to ensure people can still have their say in September.
“I urge everyone to look at the plans at Shoreham Center and give us your opinion.”
The plans are on display in the foyer of the Shoreham Center Monday to Thursday from 9pm to 8pm and Friday from 9am to 6pm.
Shoreham Brighton Road Ltd and its agents intend to have representatives at the Shoreham Center on Thursday 4th August, Wednesday 31st August and Thursday 8th September between 4pm and 8pm to meet all answer questions about the program.
The Council is writing to anyone who has previously commented on the program.

But it also wants to hear the views of the broader community, including community groups, before making a final decision on the application.
People have until September 12, 2022 to submit their comments either online via the Council’s website or in writing, citing reference number AWDM/1473/21 above.
