FOOTBALL fans heading to Boxing Day games could be bang on their feet when they see food costs – when meat pies soar by a FIFTH.
The seedy stadium staple has skyrocketed in price over the past year due to rising inflation.
Analysis of ONS statistics shows the pastry-based meal is 21 per cent more expensive than in January, one of the foods hardest hit by the economic woes.
That means a £5 cake last year would now cost £6.10.
Meanwhile, Labor analysis shows a beer at the stadium costs 7 per cent more than last year.
And for die-hard fans who want to buy their team’s kit, it costs them 14 percent more than last year.
According to the party’s analysis, the ticket price for a game is 3 percent higher than in 2021.
Soccer-loving folks who organize their own kickabout are also stung by the 20 percent skyrocketing price of a ball.
Thousands of fans are expected to travel today for the traditional December 26 games.
Jeff Smith, Labor shadow sport secretary, said: “Football on Boxing Day is the highlight of the year for many fans.
