FORMER Aston Villa footballer Glenn Whelan has dodged a speeding ban – because he needs to drive to matches.
He had nine points on his license when he was caught doing 49mph within the 40mph limit on the A55 near Bangor, Gwynned.

But he told Mold JPs he plans to become player-coach at Bristol Rovers and that a train ride will cost £200 each.
Former Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday star said he cannot rely on public transport to get home from evening games.
Whelan, 38, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, admitted speeding and was fined £307.
