And the 2017 transition has seen the player, who has won four major trophies with Chelsea, become one of the highest earning footballers in the world.

Oscar is said to have told Brazilian news site TNT Sports about Barcelona’s interest in bringing him to the Nou Camp.

“I’ve been informed of this interest, I guess they’re still trying to figure something out,” the midfielder said.

“Barca have this problem about signing new signings and they still need to arrange negotiations with my club. ‘

“From what I have said, the negotiations with Barcelona are not over yet.

“The problem is that they are having a hard time signing the contract … there must be some departure from Barca.”

Reports this month confirm Oscar is ready to join salary cut to seal a January transfer to the Nou Camp.

The midfielder, who started his playing career with Brazilian side Sao Paulo FC, is said to earn around £400,000 a week making him the fifth highest earner in football.

And club president Joan Laporta is confident the Catalan giants can bring in new additions this month, with his claim that the club are ‘back as big players’ in the market .

However, this month it was reported that financial concerns prevented the team from signing Ferran Torres after his move to Man City.

And they are supposed to aim reduce their wage bill with the futures of Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Sergino Dest said to be uncertain.
