FOLLOWING Chelsea ace Oscar is said to be continuing to discuss with Barcelona a potential transfer, according to reports.
Brazilian news agencies claim the former Blue player insists talks are ‘not over’ with the Catalan club believed to be awaiting the player’s departure.
The former Stamford Bridge midfielder, 30, is now starting to trade in the Chinese Super League after a £60m move to Shanghai Port.
And the 2017 transition has seen the player, who has won four major trophies with Chelsea, become one of the highest earning footballers in the world.
Oscar is said to have told Brazilian news site TNT Sports about Barcelona’s interest in bringing him to the Nou Camp.
“I’ve been informed of this interest, I guess they’re still trying to figure something out,” the midfielder said.
“Barca have this problem about signing new signings and they still need to arrange negotiations with my club. ‘
“From what I have said, the negotiations with Barcelona are not over yet.
“The problem is that they are having a hard time signing the contract … there must be some departure from Barca.”
Reports this month confirm Oscar is ready to join salary cut to seal a January transfer to the Nou Camp.
The midfielder, who started his playing career with Brazilian side Sao Paulo FC, is said to earn around £400,000 a week making him the fifth highest earner in football.
It is reported that Barca are looking to strengthen their attack after the arrival of Man City striker Ferran Torres and veteran defender Dani Alves, 38.
And club president Joan Laporta is confident the Catalan giants can bring in new additions this month, with his claim that the club are ‘back as big players’ in the market .
However, this month it was reported that financial concerns prevented the team from signing Ferran Torres after his move to Man City.
And they are supposed to aim reduce their wage bill with the futures of Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Sergino Dest said to be uncertain.
Oscar, who spent five years at Chelsea, enjoyed resounding success in China, winning the league title in 2018 and the China Cup a year later.
And the player won two Prem titles and a league and FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge after moving in 2012 from Brazil’s Internacional.
