Former Ireland U21 star warns teammate Morecambe will be ENDED for ‘smell’ from Spurs stars in FA Cup clash

MORECAMBE’s Ireland captain has warned his teammates they will be ENDED for ‘smell’ from one of the Tottenham Hotspur players.
Anthony O’Connor et al. to North London to host Spurs’ Antonio Conte in the FA Cup third round.
It will make for a unique, rare experience for Shrimps, but former Ireland international O’Connor insists he won’t let his teammates get carried away with himself.
He told Irish independence: “I told the players in the dressing room the day before that anyone going around sniffing the shirt of one of the Spurs players would be fined.
“Some people have a different mentality and they can ask for a shirt if they are marking one of the big names of Tottenham, but I cannot do that.
“It’s a terrible attitude to go into a game thinking about the shirt you can get at the end of it. It’s almost like you’re admitting that you’ve been there all day. “
This weekend saw a number of examples of shocking results that demonstrate the ‘miracle’ of the FA Cup.
Burnley was knocked out by Huddersfield, while non-tournament Boreham Wood advanced to the fourth round with a win at Wimbledon for the first time in history.
Most notably, a Wes Hoolahan-inspired Cambridge Utd defied the odds by impolitely removing St. James’ Park.
O’Connor is keen for Morecambe to add another giant to the game against Spurs, despite the respective pedigrees of the clubs
The Cork native said: “I am looking at this game in a different way. Yes, I am looking forward to playing at this wonderful Tottenham stadium, but my message to all the players is that this is just another game. Don’t treat it differently.
“The FA Cup throws out games like this and you have to try and enjoy them, but my view has always been that I will only enjoy it if we play well and get a good result.”
