Former UFC star turned barknuckle fighter Pearl Gonzalez has called for the “hottest fight” in boxing against Ebanie Bridges.

Gonzalez challenged Bridges after the Australian became world champion by pointing out IBF bantamweight champion Maria Cecilia Roman on Saturday night. It was Bridge’s second world title shot after losing to Shannon Courtenay last year.

Although Gonzalez has fought professionally in boxing, he has competed twice for promotion BKFC. She won her debut for promotion last year but lost her second fight to Britain Hart. She underwent surgery for injuries last December and only recently started training again.

Gonzalez, who has only fought twice for the UFC, hailed Bridges after her most recent win, writing, “One day I will fight Ebanie Bridges in boxing, this is going to be one of the hottest and biggest fights in women’s boxing!”

Bridges has caught the attention of boxing fans by showing up to their cradles in skimpy outfits. After winning her world title via a unilateral decision, she shot back at her critics an explosive post-fight interview.

“I’d like to say, ‘Can I fight or not?’ Screw you guys who think I can’t fight, I can fuck the fuck fight, I can box, I can fight and I can look hot on the scale, so hopefully I’ve proved a lot of doubters wrong,” she said.

“I’m proud of myself and very happy because it means everything I sacrificed and all the work I put in was worth it. I’m lucky. She was a tough champion and she brought it with me so I could do what I love to do.

“I love this type of fight. I know it’s not the fight we’re supposed to have, but I love this type of fight because it’s good for the fans. I’m all about entertainment and I had so much fun doing it. It was tough, she was the champion and she brought it on and that was great.”

After her release from the UFC, Gonzalez continued her MMA career by competing for Invicta FC. She amassed a string of wins and fought for the promotion’s flyweight title, but lost a decision to Vanessa Porto.

Gonzalez has amateur boxing experience and has also trained with unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano, who faces undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor next month.
