Four new professional dancers take the dance seriously

Four new professional dancers will star in the upcoming series The Serious Dancing Game, making up the BBC’s biggest ever roster.

Uropean Cup winner Vito Coppola, Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, former British Under-21 national champion Lauren Oakley and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas will join the show.

The celebrity dance competition is returning to the BBC this fall for its 20th season.

The dancers revealed to be participating are Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal , Johannes Radebe , Kai Widdrington and Nancy Xu.

Coppola, who won the Italian edition in 2021, said: “I am really excited to be part of this family. I can’t wait to start this new adventure and challenge myself. Seriously! (or: Yes, I am coming!)”

“I was thrilled to be joining Serious and very excited to get started,” Gu said. It was a new chapter of my life and also a new challenge.

“I am totally ready to join this journey and to shine.”

Oakley, the Birmingham-born who has led women to Pernice and Anton Du Beke on their national tours, said: “I grew up watching Serious, always hoping that one day I can be part of the best show on TV, doing what I like best.

“Now that it’s happening, it doesn’t seem real. I can’t wait to start this new serial adventure and join this incredible family. “
